Monwabisi Petersen
Chairperson
My name is Monwabisi Petersen, Chairperson of Amnesty International: Stellenbosch Chapter. As Chairperson, I am liable with making sure that my team and the chapter fulfils the goals for the term, and that we spread human rights awareness wherever we go. As a queer body in this ruthless society, human rights advocation has become pivotal to my being, and I feel responsible for making sure that every human being feels validated, and that they know they are just as equal and important as the next.
Zander Niemand
Vice-Chairperson
Hi, I'm Zander Niemand and I'm the Vice-Chairperson for Amnesty Stellenbosch. I strongly believe that every person regardless of race, class, creed, religion, gender, or sexuality deserves access to the fundamental human rights that all of us are granted.

I believe in building a just and equitable society, that cares for all people, at all times and I also believe that big changes start with small steps. Amnesty Stellenbosch is a truly remarkable organisation, led by truly remarkable people aiming to make a difference, one small step at a time.
Angelique Daniels
Secretary
I'm Angelique Daniels and I'm the Secretary for Amnesty Stellenbosch chapter. Human rights have always been something I am very passionate about. I study social work so working with people and helping others is something very dear to my heart. I am passionate about human rights because I believe everyone needs to be treated equally and with respect. if I can be that person who makes people aware of the fact that they have rights and that they are more than just their circumstances why wouldn't I step up and do exactly that?

One of my favourite quotes is by Frederic Lenz - "Selfless giving is the art of living."
Vaylen Hlaka
Treasurer
I'm very passionate about human rights because we all deserve to be part of a world that accepts and treats everyone equally regardless of their differences in their backgrounds, race, sexuality, culture, and religion. I strongly believe that the size of one's pocket should not determine whether one gets to live or die. It's time we make better decisions for our future which include taking care of the community and environment.

"Be you regardless" - Vaylen.

"You can, you should and if you’re brave enough to start, you will." -Stephen King.

This quote really resonates with me in every area of my life. There is so much injustice in this world and I feel that when you have an opportunity to help, as little as it may seem, it always makes a difference!
